CLOSED
Life as we knOw it is just beyond the glass.
It's right there, but we can't touch it.
The height of the COVID-19 lockdowns had shuttered the doors of many local independent businesses. One day while walking the empty streets, I was looking at all the closed shops, businesses, and cafés, and observing the way in which these places of social gathering and connection had now been taken away from us.
I felt a mixture of sadness and loneliness. Here were these places where we gathered, for community, for joy, for love - Right there, just beyond a thin pane of glass, yet now they were unaccessible.
Separated by something we could barely see.
Like the virus itself, this invisible force, dividing us, separating us from one another, from the people and places we loved.
This photo series uses images as a metaphor to express this impact.
A simple pane of glass. An invisible barrier.
